The brand identity for IFFY, Independent Film Festival Ypsilanti, sought to embrace a certain awkwardness, or “iffiness,” that the festival founders were seeking to do with its programming. The letterforms were loosely based on the idea of a marriage between Cooper Black and Bodoni. The logo uses a backslant and serifs act in unexpected ways by cutting into the letterforms. As 2020 was the inaugural year for the festival the brand materials, including several different posters, were designed to be celebration of the new logotype. I designed the logotype, posters, and some social media marketing materials.
