ZUMA is a self-initiated design studio focusing on visual explorations and self-publishing. ZUMA’s pronunciation mimics the Chinese word of sesame—Zhima(芝麻). Just like how sesame adds flavor to different dishes, ZUMA initiates publications and exhibitions which would add a little visual spice to the local community.
The visual system of ZUMA Studio is based on a special grid system from Carsten Nicolai’s Grid Index. The primary logo is composed of simple geometric shapes which aims to capture the playfulness and experimental attitude of the studio’s designs. All of the related stationary design shares the same grid as the logo and involves more variants in numbers and graphics.
