The Book of Whales is a narrative object designed for Meow Wolf's newest massive immersive installation, Convergence Station, in Denver, CO. Printed on metal, with a custom binding designed by Meow Wolf fabricator Joshua Meyers, the book tells the history of the planet Eemia.

Drawing inspiration from illuminated manuscripts, the page layout uses a classically proportioned grid as a framework for content. The designers sought opportunities to deviate from the grid to ensure that the design, while rooted in recognizably traditional forms, also felt detatched from any specific time or place. In telling the story of Eemia the book utilizes English in addition to a custom typeface designed in-house for the Eemian language. Since the printing method allowed for a heavily textured surface, the designers also decided to include braille on the pages as a way of expanding accessibility.
