There's a feeling that you get when revisiting something from your childhood; a combined feeling of nostalgia, rediscovery, and loss… and it all happens at once. When I see episodes of The X-Files I'm instantly transported back to my parents’ living room, lying on the ground with a sofa pillow under my head, complaining that it’s another monster of the week.
I can’t recreate the magic of seeing The X-Files for the first time. I’ve changed, and so they’re different. As a way of revisiting and exploring The X-Files, I rewatched the entire series and designed an X for each episode. “The X-Type Files” have now been archived, decommissioned, and collected in this file cabinet
