Stanford d.school is the pioneering hub for design education and creative experimentation at Stanford University. We partnered with them to expand their brand identity and create a unified website that would consolidate their scattered web presence while embodying their distinctive approach to education.
Building on their new logo, we developed a full visual system for their digital experience: a dynamic color palette reflecting the energy of their physical space, typography balancing academic credibility with creative spirit, and a flexible component framework allowing for both consistency and spontaneity.
Drawing inspiration from the d.school's collaborative ethos, the identity incorporates distinctive image treatments with halftone overlays and textural elements. GT America and Signifier create clear hierarchies through extreme font weights, establishing visual rhythm across the site. Interactive elements like cursor trails mimic analog mark-making, a nod to the messy, hands-on ideation central to their methodology.
We restructured the architecture around user goals rather than organizational divisions, creating intuitive pathways shaped by visitor interests. The result invites both curious newcomers and seasoned alumni to discover design thinking through a cohesive, playful interface that brings previously disparate resources under one roof.
