Process - A Novel

Tune & Fairweather
2025

Process - Chapter opener demonstrating photo collage style, dramatic typography and pink and rose-gold Pantone inks.
Process - A particularly experimental treatment influenced by concrete poetry artists.
Process - A cast-list of stock art photography is treated and repurposed throughout the book to demonstrate the changing psychology of each character.
Process - The distinctive TwoBlock font from MuirMcNeil is used as another layer of visual language. The name of the protagonist, Lucas, is here stamped over a photograph of the character.
Codes and clues are hidden throughout the book, with hidden references to key works that inspired the novel, including Dante's Divine Comedy.

Process is the debut novel from author Matthew Seiji Burns, an intense psychological journey into the dark heart of Seattle’s tech startup world.

The book’s provocative graphical approach and labyrinthine type-setting underscores the protagonist’s tenuous grip on reality.

The book was designed to push the boundaries of editorial design, attempting to create a visual experience as powerful as Matthew's words.
