The goal of my project was to create an animated poster promoting a speculative type conference in Chicago. As the conference aims to expand the city's design community, it was important that the solution be welcoming to residents of Chicago.

The poster's style is referential to the city of Chicago's schematic drawings. This is evident in line quality, typesetting, and tonality which evoke a lesser-known aspect of the city's identity. Chicago's complex grid is abstracted into a modular grid system rotated diagonally to create a dynamic composition. Imagery of typography from around the city populates the grid, allowing residents from any neighborhood to see how design is present in their lives. The animation is eye catching and rapid, evoking the chaotic motion of a bustling city while being short enough to be played on the city's digital displays.
