Contemporary Chicago designers were commissioned to design a series of posters – alphabet book style – celebrating legendary figures from the city’s rich design history. Tasked with honoring the legendary Art Paul, I created a poster that blended his iconic identity for Playboy – itself a Chicago institution – with his central philosophy championing the artistic process throughout everything he touched. Drawing upon archives of his work, a found portion of Art’s hand-written signature proved an elegant and clever vehicle to drive home the message.
