Why with so many online alternatives do we still have these unreconstructed want ads?
Are they a vivid testimony to the limits of design?
Are these ads simply primitive and crude — yes.
Clearly the medium is the massage.
WANT ADS is a collection of low resolution imagery Rick Valicenti pulled from the internet, then manipulated and fondeled each pixel to make a commentary on virtual connections and onscreen porn.
The book premiered as part of Valicenti's exhibition, (MAYBE) THIS TIME, at Loyola University's Ralph Arnold Gallery, and it was bound 18 x 22" in an edition limited to 15 by Classic Color.
