Jessica Barness

Jessica Barness is a scholar, writer, designer, and an associate professor in the School of Visual Communication Design at Kent State University. Recently, her interactive work with handwritten correspondence has been on display in the traveling exhibition Édition, Forme, Expérimentation, curated by Collectif Blanc. In a former life, she worked for nearly a decade as a product designer in Chicago, and later as a designer and researcher with an architecture firm in Minneapolis. She has a BA and MA in Art from the University of Northern Iowa and an MFA in Design from the University of Minnesota.
