Lance Rutter

Lance Rutter is V.P. of Design at the Silicon Valley start-up, Quantifind, where his primary responsibility is the user experience and interface design of an advanced data analytics SaaS platform.

His non-traditional career path as a graphic designer has been the result of a firmly held belief that designers should be tackling the hard problems, sitting at the big tables where designers are not often welcomed, and proving design’s significant impact.

Lance spent 25 years designing in Chicago, with much of that time spent managing his own studios, Tanagram and Legendre+Rutter.

He has been a guest instructor of branding and design methodology at SAIC and UIUC, served as AIGA Chicago President and on AIGA’s national board, and spearheaded the Chicago International Poster Biennial from 2008–2010.

He still welcomes the occasional invitation to design posters for events and exhibitions, with his latest commission coming from the Telluride Film Festival in 2017.
