Steff Geissbühler is among America’s most celebrated designers of integrated brand and corporate identity programs. His work also includes posters, brochures, books and illustrations. He has designed architectural graphics and sign systems for various institutions, environmental graphics and exhibitions.
Geissbühler’s work has been honored with the American Institute of Graphic Arts Medal for his sustained contribution to design excellence and the development of the profession. He is also the recipient of the U.S. Federal Achieve Design Award, and several awards from the Art Directors Club and the International Poster Biennale. Geissbühler served as the U.S. president of the Alliance Graphique Internationale and has been a member of the board of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. He is past president of AIGA’s New York chapter.
Geissbühler received his diploma in graphic design from the School of Design, Basel, Switzerland in 1964. He has taught at the Philadelphia College of Art, Cooper Union, Yale University, School of Visual Arts and is presently teaching at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and lectures throughout the country.
His professional career started at Geigy Pharmaceuticals, Basel; in the U.S. he worked with Murphy Levy Wurman Architects, Philadelphia and Anspach Grossman Portugal, New York. Prior to forming Geissbühler: Design in 2011, he was a founding partner of C&G Partners and a partner and principal at Chermayeff & Geismar Inc. New York, for over 30 years.
